Tower Lighting for events

The summer is on its way and in your new role as a production manager you have been tasked to help the account team deliver a series of successful outdoor summer events throughout festival season.  One of the key parts of this showcase is going to be the lighting, so the client and the account team want to use this as a major focus point throughout the activity.

So after a number of thought showers (formerly known as brain storms) between you and the account team, the plan is up and running and you can begin to start the layout of the site and more importantly how you will achieve the level of lighting required.  Although not new to the industry, this is your first time running this kind of event and so things take a bit of time to get going and you spend a lot of time on the net looking at a host of lighting options.  It all gets a bit much after a while and whilst not wanting to admit defeat it’s now time to draw on the vast experience and technical savvy of the entire production team.  So you drop an email to them all briefly describing the event and the lighting requirements, then in hope of many a return you fill the kettle to bursting point in anticipation of quite a few thank you teas and coffees.  As you plonk yourself back down in your chair and look at your inbox all of a sudden a flood of emails come racing in, you eagerly click on the first one and have a read through, then the second, the third and so on.  There seems to be a recurring theme in all of them, they all mention using tower lighting at the event, and some include the companies preferred supplier to boot.  So with three teas and one black coffee made and delivered you pick up the phone and call the first supplier on your list.

Soon you realise that you are a little out of your depth, you’re not quite sure what all the jargon means and there seems to be a lot to take in on tower lightingSo you take a breather and collect your thoughts, where to start. First let’s check the budget and set a mental limit, then work out the size and dimensions of the site and where needs to be lit and how.  Now the picture is a little clearer and you know pretty much what type of tower lighting you’re going to need.  So when you next pick up the phone you are better equipped with not only the right facts but also the pertinent questions to help you get the best tower lighting for your money.  This does not go unnoticed by the supplier and they are able to provide you with useful information so you can compare quotes.  So there you have it, you can now go back to the account team with a detailed breakdown of how you are going to light the site using tower lighting to provide bright white light across the whole area for the duration of the event.
